October is Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month, a time to draw attention to a condition that can cause unexpected loss of heart function and lead to death.
To mark the awareness month, Dr. Andrew Krahn from the St. Paul’s Hospital’s Heart Centre appeared on Global TV. He discussed how tragic a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) can be on families, especially if there was no prior knowledge of the condition. He also spoke of the need for testing in people who may be at risk of SCA, or who may be related to someone who suffered an arrest, so that care can be provided.
