Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

The clinic provides comprehensive evaluation of the patient's COPD status by respirologists who will recommend or implement management strategies in conjunction with the family physician that may include changes in medication, further testing, oxygen prescriptions and referrals to rehabilitation.

The vision of the Asthma clinic is to improve quality of life in patients diagnosed with asthma and to re-evaluate current clinical practices in the management of asthma through a collaborative model of patient care that includes patient involvement in the decision making process.

At the Pacific Lung Health Centre, patients are seen by the rheumatologist and respirologist, who both have a special interest in this particular disease. They will help guide the treatment strategies in conjunction with the patient and their family physicians. Referrals can be made to the Mary Pack Arthritis Centre or GF Strong for further rehabilitation if recommended

The ILD Clinic is run by two respirologists with extra training and special interest in the comprehensive care of patients with ILD. The physicians in the ILD clinic are involved in research that is aimed at improving the quality of life and outcomes of ILD patients, including clinical trials of potential therapies. A clinic manager provides additional ongoing care, including coordination of regular support group meetings for patients living with ILD and their families.

Adult Cystic Fibrosis Clinic

The Adult Cystic Fibrosis Clinic is a stand alone clinic within St. Paul's Hospital that is staffed by respirologists from the Pacific Lung Health Centre. Patients graduate to this clinic from the BC Children's Hospital Cystic Fibrosis program when they turn 18.

The clinic is multi-disciplinary in nature.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation/Respiratory Rehabilitation at St. Paul’s Hospital

The Respiratory Rehabilitation program provides education and exercise training for patients with chronic lung disease to assist them with symptom management and improve their daily ability to function. This physiotherapy-based program includes a multi-disciplinary team comprised of a physiotherapist, an occupational therapist, a dietician and a respiratory therapist. Patients with a diagnosis of emphysema, chronic bronchitis, asthma, pulmonary fibrosis or bronchiectasis can be referred by their respirologist or family physician.

This clinic is part of the Lung Health Initiative. Patients are followed by various physicians within St. Paul's Hospital including referrals to cardiac and eye clinics.
